NAMESAKE The juxtaposition of regal crystal bands and dainty floral motifs in this crown reminds me of Anne of Green Gables reciting the Lady of Shallott in her sinking rowboat – the serious and the playful all in one place. So I named this headpiece after the most famous “Avonlea” in Canada, the Prince Edward Island setting for Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved novel. There is, however, another Avonlea namesake in Saskatchewan, also named for Anne of Green Gables.
